It’s been a few weeks since the last time I posted on Oppo. While I’ve been away, I needed to go to the Philippines to attend a funeral. Since this is a car blog, I’d like to share with you guys the differences between the cars I saw in Manila and in my mother’s home province of Negros Occidental.
Apologies for taking pictures from a moving car instead of stopping.
(Manila) A Subaru Legacy wagon that’s not sold in America
Traffic enforcers at work in the Makati CBD. Stoplights are here, but Traffic enforcers are needed to control box blockers
A random jeepney.
(Negros occidental) Kei Trucks and Kei Vans can be found everywhere in the Philippines.
It’s harvest time for sugarcanes in Negros Occidental. Cane trucks are loaded with as much sugarcane as possible and then driven very slowly to the mill.
Comparing the size of a sugarcane truck and a tricycle
An Armored car and 2 armed security guards outside of a bank in negros occidental
The view from outside of a moving car in Negros occidental. sugarcane plantations and forests
boats
Provincial highway
Farmers riding on top of a truck. I’ve seen people riding on the hoods of some of these trucks before.
Giant yellow bus, locally known as the ‘Ceres’.

Yes I did. The toyota hi-ace is a better van, but my family has a good relationship with our local nissan dealership. We’ve taken our urvans on muddy farm tracks americas would be afraid to drive an SUV on.

You think so? I wasn’t that impressed when I rode the Super Grandia during one vacation... The seats were nice, yes, but the ride is bad.
Perhaps it’s got to do with the A/T tires they equipped with the latest one.
Though I am a big ‘Yota fan, I think the NV350 is a better van.

I’ve ridden in an 11 seater super grandia in philippines and a 15 seater hiace commuter in thailand. I’ve ridden 3 urvans, 2 etates and 1 NV350.
The super grandia is nice, and all 11 passengers are seated comfortably. In the case of a fully loaded urvan, 2 passengers are riding in a jump seat, and those 2 passengers honestly don’t want to ride in them. IDK if the super grandia is really worth 2 million pesos, or if toyota just charges 2 million because they can.
I liked riding in the back row of the 15 seater hiace in thailand because all 15 seats reclined. Our driver in thailand was so smooth that I could barely tell that he was driving manual. Originally my family was going to buy a 15 seater nissan NV350, but after we bought it and didn’t fit comfortably we told the dealer to make it a 12 seater.
